Prior to and since becoming President of the United States, Barack Obama has made it crystal clear that Muslim outreach will be a central theme to his presidency. Obama believes that such efforts are crucial to restoring American prestige and respect around the world and to also help with national security by lowering the threat of Islamic terrorism. So far his outreach efforts have included requiring the NASA administrator to reduce space exploration in favor of offering programs and initiatives that will help Muslims feel good about their contributions to science.
Obama has embraced the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization that has extensive ties to Islamic extremist and even Muslim terrorist, by bringing them into his administration and, most recently, arming them with sophisticated military armament.
Obama has also modified our speech and vernacular by prohibiting the use of the term “Islamic terrorism or terrorist” preferring instead to calling such acts “overseas contingencies”. He showed favor to Muslims by distancing himself and thus the U.S. from our strategic partner and close friend Israel. More recently Obama expressed his bias for Islam and Muslims by nominating former Senator Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense. Senator Hagel has made numerous statements that could be construed as pro Muslim and anti-Jewish. While Obama supporters will argue that the President’s actions are exactly what are needed to make America safe, no proof of such a result can be identified or measured. So why then does Obama continue with policies that at best are ineffective at achieving his goals and at worse are likely placing America and Americans at greater risks? Well if Obama’s past acts have not heightened threats to America or created more unsafe conditions for Americans at home and abroad, his most recent acts should make up any ground.
In the article below, “State Department Recruits Muslim Foreign Service Officers at Jihadist Conference”, we learn of new and likely dangerous Muslim outreach efforts by the Obama Administration.
According to Judicial Watch…’ The Obama administration is covertly recruiting Muslims to work at the State Department as Foreign Service officers representing the United States in one of 265 American embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions worldwide.
It appears to be part of the administration’s Muslim outreach effort, which includes a variety of controversial moves. Among them Homeland Security meetings with extremist Islamic organizations, sending an America-bashing mosque leader (Feisal Abdul Rauf) who blames U.S. foreign policy for the 9/11 attacks on a Middle Eastern outreach mission and revamping the way federal agents are trained to combat terrorism by eliminating all materials that shed a negative light on Muslims.’
Now in a move to further strengthen ties to the Muslim community ‘news of a secretive State Department campaign, discovered in the course of a Judicial Watch investigation, to add Muslims to its roster. Presumably, the new recruits will be deployed around the globe to help the agency fulfill its mission of promoting the country’s international relations. The campaign seems to be headed by Mark Ward, the Deputy Special Coordinator in the State Department’s Office of Middle East Transition.’ Judicial Watch
At first blush one might conclude that this most recent outreach makes sense. If we are to cultivate better relations with the Muslim world then perhaps it makes sense that we have Muslim representatives, in official State Department capacities, interacting with Muslims around the world. On many levels a persuasive argument could be made that American support should be behind this effort. However, if one looks behind the curtain, this, like so many of Obama’s initiatives, could very well have major negative impacts on America and the safety of Americans here and around the world. Consider these facts.
In the article the author noted:
Ward held a 90-minute seminar at a recent convention sponsored by two groups—Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA)—with known ties to radical Islam. Both nonprofits are associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, which is known as the parent organization of Hamas and al Qaeda……The conference that Ward conducted focused on career opportunities for Muslim youth. Here is how the event was billed: “Besides being a citizenship duty, there are benefits that Muslims can add to the American Muslim community and the global Muslim world by joining the US Foreign Services. This session will shed light on the different career opportunities for Muslim youth in the US Foreign Services Department. It will also clear any concerns that many people have feared about pursuing in this career.”
Once again, at first blush reaching Muslim youth seems appropriate and logical. However, it appears that at least one flaw, perhaps a major flaw, to this strategy is the fact that a significant portion of Muslim youth receive their education and certainly their Islamic education in mosques. Given the following facts about mosques, one has to wonder, who or what will be populating our State Department efforts to connect with Muslims around the world.
- A large majority of mosques in the United States are led by Wahhabi clerics. Wahhabism is an extreme brand of Islam practiced dominantly in Saudi Arabia. According to Muslim estimates, up to 80 percent of mosques in the U.S. are owned, operated and led by Wahhabis.
- These radical mosques often promote the installation of Sharia law, an extreme ideology that considers ‘non-believers’ to be infidels.
- According to Wahhabis, Jihad or support of Jihad is a Muslim duty.
- They believe that suicide bombers and martyrs are worthy of the highest praise and reward.
- Radicals are anticipating the day when an Islamic state will one day span the U.S. Radical Islam
With a large segment of mosques preaching Wahhabism then it is not much of a leap to recognize the fact that Muslim youth are being heavily exposed to these teachings. Clearly, then, it is very possible, if not probable, that the State Department’s efforts to recruit Muslims could end with a team of representatives who do not reflect American values and who might in fact harbor real anti-American values. Given Obama’s past failures in seeing the possible unintended consequences in so many of his policies (e.g. see the Arab Spring) one has to wonder just how this new initiative will end. I predict, it will not end well for America.
