We won! The American people speak and act with strength and determination

The above headline ran proudly at the website, People’s World. The headline celebrated the recent reelection of Barack Obama over conservative Republican candidate, Mitt Romney.  So what is so different or unique about this headline? Well what distinguishes People’s World is the fact that it is the official newspaper of The Communist Party USA (CPUSA). People’s World is the direct descendant of the Daily Worker, a newspaper published in New York City by the Communist Party USA and the forerunner of the People’s World.

Conservatives in America have long claimed that today’s Democrat Party has been infiltrated by extreme leftist organizations like the Communist and Socialist Parties USA. Assertions have also been made that President Obama’s policies and his ideology resembles many of the attributes and ideas of communism and socialism. This might help explain why prior to Tuesday’s election both the Communist and Socialist Parties USA endorsed Barack Obama’s reelection campaign, just as they did in 2008. So what does this mean for the Democrat Party generally and for the rank and file members who vote the Democrat line?.

What it means for moderate more mainstream Democrats, people like my family and friends, is that they must begin to assess their association with an organization that has adopted policies and principles so extreme that Communist and Socialist organizations see themselves aligned with and who fully support the Democrat party. While some in the Democrat Party might deny any affinity between the two groups, clearly the CPUSA sees itself and the Democrat Party as like minded, kindred spirits.

“Progressives like you worked their hearts out all over America for our people, our country, our president, and progressive Democrats. (emphasis added)

And if there is any question about what the People’s World stands for, the following was taken from their website: is a daily news website of, for and by the 99% and the direct descendant of the Daily Worker…. People’s World and Mundo Popular (Spanish version) are known for partisan coverage…. The editorial mission is partisan to the working class, people of color, women, young people, seniors, LGBT community, to international solidarity; to popularize the ideas of Marxism and Bill of Rights socialism (emphasis added). The websites enjoy a special relationship with the Communist Party USA, founded in 1919, and publish its news and views.

While conservatives, specifically Tea Party Patriots, continue to be characterized as extremist, one has to ask; given the apparent simpatico between the CPUSA and the Democrat Party where is the real extremism.  Moreover, given the sheer excitement that was expressed by the CPUSA over Obama’s reelection, how should this relationship be viewed by the average citizen; one who has been held in the dark by the mainstream media because of their decision to not vet the President on his radical past, ideology and associations?
